A line of at least five small shafts runs in a north-east to south-west direction through the woods. A deep stone-lined shaft at SJ 1878 6656 is securely fenced off.
Evidence of modern spar mining includes a gated incline adit level, with the track beds of the incline still in place, running uphill to a platform area. Nearby, a corrugated workman’s hut remains. The ruins of a stone-built loading hopper are still visible, along with its crude corrugated ore chute, which descends westwards via a revetment wall. Adjacent to the hut, a concrete base likely once housed the winding gear.
Older lead mining operations in the area followed an east to west vein, extending westwards from Coed-du Hall. Modern spar mining later took place in the 20C.
