The Raygill Level was established by the Leeds Mining Company between 1862 and 1871. Starting a few yards north of the Hawes to Bainbridge road, it was driven southwards on a course from the Raygill Vein to exploit a flat area east of the vein. In 1969-70, it underwent a reopening and was surveyed by the Earby Mines Research Group.
