This mine worked fireclay and coal for the adjacent pipeworks. There was a 1ft 10 gauge tramway hauled by horses until 1975. In 1976 the mine was worked by dumper trucks until it closed shortly after. The mine carts used were of a small wooden design with metal bands to hold it all together.
