Initially named South Wheal Speed, the mine was later renamed South Wheal Providence. Its recorded output during the period when it was known as South Wheal Speed includes 55 tons of black tin and 105 tons of 5% copper ore, spanning from 1852 to 1855. After its renaming, South Wheal Providence produced 80 tons of black tin from 1855 to 1882.
