Encompassed Wheal Elizabeth, also known as Little Ventonwyn, and was later integrated into the workings of Kingsdown Mine, specifically Hewas Water. The mine’s approximate center is located at OS grid reference SW972502, spanning a distance of around 1.2 km. Legend has it that between 1815 and 1822, Hewas Mine boasted a remarkable monthly output of 100 tons of black tin. Official records reveal that in 8121, Hewas produced 482 tons of 5.75% copper ore, while in 1856, Great Hewas yielded 19 tons of 64% lead ore and 48oz silver. Additionally, Great Hewas United recorded 867 tons of black tin between 1854 and 1869. In 1913, a section of the mine underwent prospecting, leading to operations under the name Kingsdown Mine starting in 1919. This focused on four E-W striking lodes southwest of the Wheal Elizabeth area. Over the period from 1919 to the closure of the Kingsdown operation in 1926, an estimated 24 tons of black tin per month were reportedly produced.
