Trebarvah Mine, also known as Wheal Castle, is situated east of Perranuthnoe village. Primarily a copper producer, it yielded a small amount of tin as well. Around 1873-1874, records show production of 1730 tons of brown hematite, with some lead and zinc also documented. The base section of a stack, marking one of the mine’s engine houses, is located within a bungalow’s garden, while overgrown dumps overlook Perranuthnoe beach. The mine’s adit opens onto the beach, where pebbles of brown hematite are relatively common.
