Initially established in 1818, this mine experienced remarkable success during the relatively short period between 1879 and 1881. In these years, it achieved an exceptional output of 3,265 tons of manganese, valued at £4,658, surpassing even nearby Chillaton and Hogstor in production. However, despite its impressive performance during this period, scant information is available about the mine’s history. Today, only remnants remain, including an old shaft, remnants of reservoirs, a mostly leveled engine house, the base of a stack, and some small dumps.
