With Leisure. Amalgamation: Droskyn etc. Located east of Cligga Head, Great St George Mine has a long history dating back to 1589 when it was primarily focused on tin extraction. However, by the late 18th century, copper mining became prominent in the area. Between 1800 and 1804, the mine produced 1507 tons of copper ore, equivalent to 149 tons of copper metal, fetching £14559 in sales. Nevertheless, by 1812, the mine’s productivity had significantly declined, yielding only small amounts of ore.
