Large fire brick works which used ganister from Wharncliffe Wood and Great Hollins Wood Quarries then later Beeley Wood Quarries/mines.
Incorporated as Oughtibridge Silica Firebrick Co in 1918
Steetley took over the site in 1947. In the 1980s Steetley Group shut and half the site was demolished. The other half was bought by Intermet Refractory Products. Intermet went into administration in 2023 and the business was bought by Magma Group (who operate a similar site in Bolton).
