The hill was extensively mined for minerals like Cassiterite and Wolframite, particularly up until the First World War. Mapping efforts have identified approximately 1000 shafts, pits, and other trial excavations for mineral extraction. One notable endeavor was the Excelsior mine tunnel, which is documented separately.
