Part of Great North Downs. The Wheal Boys copper and tin mine is located just south of the A30 Redruth bypass, positioned between Shallow Adit and Radnor, approximately three-quarters of a mile southwest of Scorrier Station. It’s important to note that this mine should not be confused with others of the same name in different locations. The sett is bordered by Cardrew and Prussia United to the west and lies south of Wheal Peevor and Great North Downs mines. Unfortunately, there are no existing plans detailing the layout of shafts on the sett, and nothing remains of the mine today. Although it was a relatively small operation, owned by Francis W. Michell and Thomas Pryor between 1877 and 1883, records indicate that Wheal Boys produced 22 tons of copper ore with a grade of 7% and 5 tons of black tin between 1873 and 1878.
