Opencast and underground. Wheal Gover was a mine that extracted both tin and iron from a north-northeast-trending stanniferous elvan and an intersecting iron lode of similar orientation. Surface excavations were used for mining operations. One of the pits, situated more to the north, can still be identified on the slope south of Gover hamlet, while the other pit, located slightly southwest, has been obscured beneath Trewoon village. Over the period from 1869 to 1883, the mine produced 85 tons of black tin. Additionally, records indicate the extraction of 1,724 tons of hematite between 1858 and 1877. In 1882-1883, Wheal Gover collaborated with Parka Mine, Fatwork, and Virtue Mine, all situated in St Enoder parish, operating collectively under the name Trevarran United Mines.
