Engine shaft and balance pit. Adits are difficult to access due to forestry.
An unsucessful trial promoted at various times as:
Year | Name |
---|---|
1862-3 | West Cwmsymlog |
1864-5 | Cwmsymlog United |
1868-70 | Cwm Darren |
1878 | River Mine |
The Cwmsymlog and Darren lode are said to intersect here, where two or three shafts were sunk. A foot of solid lead was reported. An adit was driven 130 ft W of the engine shaft, in good ore. However, despite talk of buddles and drawing machine, little work was being done - a Jan 1870 Mining Journal article asking: ‘WIll some reader be kind enough to tell me whether Cwm Darren is worked at present , , , there is often reports from Cardiganshire mines, but how is there nothing about Cwm Darren’
