Small historic copper mine began operations in 1718 but was abandoned in 1758. In 1830, its property was merged with the East Wheal Crofty sett, and later acquired by the South Crofty Mine upon its establishment in 1854. By this point, the copper lodes at Longclose were depleted, prompting the focus of new operations on the southern boundary of the sett. Presently, this area has been entirely developed with buildings.
