20ft thick bedded deposit of 35% iron. This bed has been worked in several places on the northern flank of Cadair Idris.

Adits and quarries obscured by forestry.



Year Activity
1861 Worked by Townsend & Warner, with large quantities of ore being carted to a specially built quay at Penmaenpool for shipping.
1908-10 12,000 tons of ore mined by the Brymbo Steel Company.
1913 Final closure.

May have used the Dolgun Furnace (SH 751 187) at some time.



Cycle Track Route 8 goes past site.
