A mine situated 1/2km NE of Casara Mine in the narrow valley of Nant-yr-hiddl. There are two adits in the NE bank and two adits and 3 shafts in the SW bank. The adits are variously 20-70m in length, a couple with cross cuts.

The longest south level meets shaft coming from surface, an inclined shaft downwards, and another adit from surface.

c1770 Worked by Admiral Lloyd.
1848 About 1 ton of lead raised.
1854 A Mr Gibson obtains lease for the South Wales Consolidated Mines. No further work.
1858 Lady Eliza Company acquire the sett, cleared 6fm wize, finding a level and 2 winzes sunk to further depth. Some ore seen.
1859 Waterheel built.
1860 No 3 adit commenced cutting the Ancient’s Lode then the Admiral’s Lode
1863 Work ceased.
1867 Prospectus appears for the New Nantymwyn Mining Extension Company to operate other mines plus Gilfach, though subscribers were not forthcoming.
1870 Gilfach Silver-Lead Mining Company formed with Captain John Kitto as agent. Billing’s shaft sunk to 13 fms below adit, with plans to sink further. But no further updates.
1876 A company called Goreu Silver-Lead Mining sank Engine Shaft from 25 to 36 fm level, Engine Shaft = Billing’s Shaft??
