Shaft and incline to it of North Mine still visible at Gelli-felen. Across road in wood are trials marking the original discovery. Below here is shallow adit, still open, and at bottom of hill is blocked deep adit (which is accesible via 30m deep winze from shallow adit).

Shaft of South Mine at top of field, with a couple of adits and dump.

Year Avtivity
1854 Rich vein of lead discovered near Gelli-felen Farm, on land belonging to Mr Morgan Morgan.
1855 Mr Thomas Fuller leases the sett as Wheal Morgan Company and starts sinking shaft (at soon to be called North Mine) at the original discovery 200m NW of Clydach Brook.
1856 Another lode found 700m to the south and work starts at so called South Mine. Adit driven south to open up North Mine. Trial pits and shaft started at South Mine. By general meeting in Dec, out of 512 shares, only 44 had been subscribed. Company closes.
1857 Lady Eliza Silver-Lead Mining Company formed, those subscribed not being paid for in full, so company not able to commence work.
1860 Company folds, replaced by another with the same name. Ore in deep adit of North Mine. Ventilation poor, so shallow adit driven and connected to deep via winze.
1862 Little work done after April.
1863 Company wound up.
