The site comprises a collection of pits, small quarries, and shallow workings along a manganese lode situated in the woods above the road. An adit adjacent to the road is currently blocked. It’s noteworthy that the name ‘Creva Wood Mine’ is a misnomer originating from Hogg’s book in 1825, perpetuated by subsequent authors like Greg & Lettsom (1858), Hall (1868), and Collins (1871), among others. Sir Arthur Russell clarified that it actually refers to Pencrebar Wood Mine.
