Located three-quarters of a mile southeast of Alston, this mine comprises an opencast area and several short levels on Middle Fell. The primary product extracted was calamine (smithsonite), obtained from the Bayle Hill and Middle Cross Fell veins. The grid reference provided corresponds to the location of the opencast site.
