Just north of Beacon, Wheal Harriett was a copper mine situated on the northeastern slopes of Camborne Beacon, located east of Carn Camborne Mine and northwest of the Great Condurrow sett. It worked four northeast-trending lodes, with the Main and Engine Lodes being the primary ones, operated from Engine Shaft. Caunter Lode, positioned just south of Engine Lode, was only developed to a shallow extent, while Alexander’s Lode, situated about 80 yards north of Main Lode, was exploited from a crosscut in the eastern part of the sett. Between 1835 and 1848, Wheal Harriett produced 9,030 tons of 5.5% copper ore before being abandoned in 1866. Despite its historical significance, there are few remaining traces of the mine workings. It should not be confused with North Wheal Harriett, which is part of Dolcoath Mine (Harriett Shaft).
