Llanover shaft is/was 192 yards deeps and 15ft in diameter

The mine worked the Pontygwaith and Tillery seams



1909-30 Bargoed Coal Co. Ltd
Coal winding ceased in 1929 and the mine was used for pumping water for Markham Colliery.
1931-46 Markham Steam Coal Co. Ltd
1947-62 National Coal Board

Markham itself closed in 1985.



Site is just of a public footpath.
