Area contains Ordovician shales, conglomerates, and tuffs with mineralisation of calcite, barytes, and galena. Mining activity in this region included a shaft and an adit at SJ 3090 1320, situated within Powys. Additionally, a series of exploratory workings, appearing as linear earthwork trenches, extend just over the border into Shropshire at SJ 3095 1320.
