Several shafts are located on either side of the road from Moel-y-crio to Rhes-y-cae, generally positioned to the southeast of Tan-y-foel at SJ 190 07035. These workings lie to the west of the New Westminster sett, marking the remnants of past mining activity in the area. The shafts, now overgrown, follow the natural contours of the landscape.
