Wheal Lushington Mine, also called West Wheal Towan Mine, is a consolidation of several ancient mining areas along the coastline spanning approximately 1500 meters from the western edge of Porthtowan Beach to the eastern side of Keriack Cove. While the western part falls within the Portreath parish, it is considered part of the Porthtowan mining district. Portreath village is more than 2.5 kilometers southwest of the western boundary of the mine, which can be misleading in terms of location. The mine comprises smaller operations including Wheal Vincent, situated east of Metal Work, with visible surface features overlooking Lushington Cove and west of the headland known as Westcliff. Some substantial dumps remain north of the old Reynolds Shaft site.
