Former Horse Track Entrance to Allenheads Mine, C19. Stone, cast-iron. Rectangular enclosure with iron railings on low stone walls, mine entrance now infilled with rubble, etc. A mine entrance of very unusual type, by which ponies could descend a spiral incline at a gradient of 1 in 4 into the lead mine workings.
