Began around 1865, with operations concluding by 1871. Historical records indicate that ore from Carew was managed separately by the West Somerset Mineral Railway (WSMR) to ensure accurate accounting of charges and income. By the time the mine was surveyed in 1883, the shaft had become flooded. Although the ore from Carew garnered interest for a mining venture in 1907 at Timwood Tunnel, this endeavor failed before any ore was extracted. Today, all that remains is a minor surface disturbance near a car park, serving as the only visible reminder of the mine’s existence.
