Grid reference identifies Fortescue Shaft, where remnants of two engine houses can be found. East Wheal Grenville was a mine of brief duration and little success, operating from 1859 to 1877. Its operations primarily focused on Engine Shaft. The mine was abandoned in 1877, and its sett was subsequently acquired by Wheal Grenville. The recorded output includes 6,429 tons of copper ore and 315 tons of black tin.
