Needs separating: Badi Hill Mine - In a fairly extensive area characterized by hushes, opencuts, and spoil tips, several old hillside adits still linger. These spoil tips prominently feature abundant Sphalerite, a mineral discarded by the early 18th and 19th-century lead miners, as was common in mines across the region.

Crackpot Hall Level - In a relatively expansive area, particularly sizable by Swaledale standards, lie dumps that are remarkably barren. According to Dunham, these dumps were characterized by an absence of gangue mineralization, with the vein primarily consisting of solid galena.

This mining site was serviced by the smelter located at the base of Swinner Gill, underscoring its historical significance in the regional mining landscape.

Further information to add to the entry (from SJT 22 Dec 2025): Level had collapsed a short way in - digging in October 2023 quickly gave access to extensive workings initially in stone, before passing into the shale. Sumps (blind) go down off the level at intervals. A timbered rise was climbed, but found to be run in at the top (avoid!)
Beautiful stonework supports the roof & walls in some sections.
