Tip for Oakeley reached by viaduct across river.

Although the tip itself has been levelled, the stone pillars of the viaduct survive as striking remains in the landscape. The course of the tramway running down to the station can still be followed on the ground.

Major tipping and milling area for Oakeley, fed by a high-level viaduct that carried waste and finished material across the river, the Ffestiniog Railway, and the former LNWR main line. It was developed to replace the earlier Pantyrafon exchange, streamlining and improving the efficiency of slate transfer. The complex also included an incline and a narrow-gauge link to exchange sidings at the LNWR Blaenau station, which became Oakeley’s principal outward outlet in its later years.
