Extensive workings on various veins including the Smittergill Hill Sun Vein, Rotherhope Fell Vein, Rotherhope Cleugh Sun Vein, Crag Green North Vein, and Dowpot Sike Vein have been present. Underground lead mining ceased in 1948, but since then, much dump material has been removed for processing for fluorspar. The grid reference provided is for Blackburn Level. Some remarkable fluorite specimens exist in collections from this mine, primarily sourced from flats in the Tyne Bottom Limestone situated below the horizon of the Blackburn Level, which are now submerged. A superb collection of Rotherhope Fell specimens, predominantly gathered in the 1930s, is housed in the Russell collection at the Natural History Museum, London.
