Amalgamated with South Crofty Mine in 1905. Prior to 1896, it had been linked with Tincroft Mine. The name ‘New Cooks Kitchen’ is now associated with a modern vertical shaft, likely named after this old mine.

The old engine shaft of New Cooks Kitchen has been repurposed over time. Initially, it served as a ventilation shaft for South Crofty Mine. More recently, it was equipped with an Alimak elevator, providing access to old workings at shallow depths. Additionally, it allows entry to new exploratory drives as part of the re-evaluation of South Crofty for potential reopening.
