SIte levelled. Footpath toward Erglodd passes Hobson’s Shaft and also an adit that passes through the hill towards Rhyd Fach. HIgher up are open cast workings on the lode.

Absalom Francis in the mid 18C states that Penypontbren was ‘worked most extensively for some centuries past and large quantities of plate made from the silver obtained from the ores.’.

1869 | Company collapses, items for sale including: two waterwheels, 700fm wire rope, drawing machine and ore stamps. |
1872 | Attempt to float Erglodd and Penpompren Silver Lead Mines for £30,000 with favourable report by Absalom Francis in prospectus. A letter to the Mining Journal by Edward Gledhill the former manager stating that there was no ore, and previous shareholders had lost £8,000 scuppered this. |
1883 | Erglodd United formed to work the three mines, but not much was done. |
