Site featured two shafts: the easterly shaft was known as the Land Pit, and the westerly as the Deep Pit. Today, the site is forested over, with only the foundations and a protruding pumping rod still visible.
Opened in the 1830s by Osman Barrett. It remained in operation until 1930, when it was forced to close due to water ingress from the adjacent and already closed Crump Meadow Colliery (q.v.). The mine had a notably profitable period, producing over 50,000 tons of coal in 1870.
