The Fron Issa Vein branches off from the Cathole Vein within an area composed of Cefn-y-fedw sandstone.

At least one large shaft located at SJ 2220 6235, situated in woodland across the road from the site’s structures. Three additional shafts, once shown on the first edition Ordnance Survey map for Fron Issa, were reportedly destroyed when the road was constructed.

A chimney itself remains intact at full height, featuring two opposed flues. According to an 1861 Mining Journal entry, a 56-inch pumping engine operated at the site, accompanied by two 30-foot by 6-foot boilers and two horse whims.

Three ore bins is located south of the engine house. These remain in relatively good condition, with one still retaining its portal. A washing and picking platform is positioned to the north of the bins.
