The mine exploited the southernmost extension of a branch off the Maes-y-pwll Vein, cutting through Carboniferous Limestone overlying shale.

Mining remains in the area include opencuts and shaft mounds on the nearby limestone slopes, which may be linked to Alltgymbyd. Two old shafts were located northeast of Bod Idris Hall at SJ 2080 5300 and SJ 2110 5405, in fields near an old limekiln and quarry at SJ20805370. Additional shafts remain at SJ 2050 5425 and further east at SJ 2110 5410.

The Bodidris Mining Company, later known as Creigiog, was established with significant investment for speculative mining.
