Wheal Jewell operated from 1815 to 1853, yielding a total of 58,150 tons of copper. Today, remnants of the mine, including numerous waste tips and exceptionally deep, cavernous open mine shafts, can be found along the St. Day-Carharrack road and in the vicinity of Crofthandy. This description encompasses Wheal Quick as part of the overall site.
