Sinking of a trial shaft in 1875. Despite the development of seven levels, minimal ore was discovered, leading to its closure by 1883. Described by Jones as a venture that ‘never amounted to much’, the mine failed to yield significant results. In 1907, a Liverpool syndicate explored the site with the employment of around a dozen workers, but their efforts proved fruitless. Today, only a small mound serves as a faint reminder of the mining activities that once occurred there.
