In the lower Downas valley, northwest of Beagles Point, old copper mine. A.K. Hamilton Jenkin noted remnants of a watercourse, a pit for a wheel, and a modest pile of discarded material in the valley circa 1950. Moving towards the east, still on Beagles Point’s northwest side, evidence of copper deposits could be spotted amidst discarded material near old shafts and mining passages.
