The western workings on the Pantymwyn vein are marked by shafts at at SJ 1905 6450, SJ 1905 6455, and SJ 1920 6450. The levels driven into the east bank of the River Alyn, including the ‘Great Level,’ were critical for draining the mines in the area. The Pantymwyn mine complex, which expanded to include Bryncoch and Mold Mines, is centered at SJ 2010 6480.
In 1738, the ‘Great Level’ was started from SJ 1890 6430, driven southeast to drain the Pantybuarth Mines. A second level was later created from SJ18856460 to drain the Pantymwyn Vein.
