Old tin mine is situated between Trannack and Trannack Mill, approximately 3/4 mile northwest of Sancreed. It operated on two lodes, one trending southeast and the other northeast. The latter was accessed via two shafts northwest of Trannack Mill, with an overgrown shaft burrow still visible in the adjacent field along the road to Trannack. The shafts on the southeast-trending lode are located about 150 yards further north, now heavily overgrown. Records show an output of 20 tons of black tin between 1853 and 1855. Note: Dines’ location for this mine (’[…] just west of Ding Dong Mine’) is incorrect, with the present coordinates based on Atkinson’s data and corroborated by Hamilton Jenkin’s description.
