Unity Wood Mine extends over a stretch of approximately 1 km in an east-north-easterly direction from Zimapan to St Neot, passing through the southern section of Unity Wood. The most prominent remains of the mine include two engine houses near Magors Shaft. One is a large pumping engine house, while the other, smaller rotative engine house likely served multiple functions such as stamping and winding. Interestingly, the latter engine house’s alignment suggests it may have wound from a shaft southwest of Magors Shaft. A sizable dump southwest of Magors pumping engine house still holds specimens for diligent collectors. Another accessible dump from Harpers Shaft is about 100 meters northeast of Magors Shaft. Within the woodland section of the mine, several shafts exist, although many are choked or made safe. Ancient surface workings indicating lode courses are also extensive. While collecting here presents challenges, careful searching can yield excellent specimens.
