Underground.

Now largely obscured by rubbish heaps. One building that may be quarry-related remains in use. The tip area south of the road now only retains the building bases of the former mill. At road level, an adit has collapsed. Above this, the quarry’s underground chambers break into the bank.

Operated as an underground quarry on a small scale through the mid to late 19th century. It experienced a revival after the Tanant Valley branch railway opened in 1904, with slate reduction taking place at a mill located south of the main road. Later operations utilized a homemade diesel locomotive for transport and a producer gas engine to power an electrical generator. The quarry was finally abandoned in 1938 following a collapse caused by pillar robbing.
