After approximately 650 yards, the level reaches a T-junction where it branches both north and south for considerable distances. The passage is notably small—reportedly so tight that it was believed to have been excavated by children.

Driven in the 17th century, heading east from a point just south of Cannop Ponds. It was constructed to drain the Coleford High Delf and Yorkley seams. The Yorkley Seam in this area measures between 2 feet and 2 feet 9 inches thick and extends northward beneath Barnhill Plantation.
