The course of the Pantypedew Vein is indicated by an area featuring numerous shafts and spoil mounds. These are now covered by grass and situated on the northwestern edge of the Pantypydew Limestone outcrop.
The Pantypedew Vein runs in an east-west direction through Carboniferous Limestone. Smith (1921) makes reference to two shafts located on the vein: the Engine Shaft and the Pulley Shaft. These shafts marked important points of activity during the mine’s operation.
In 1881, the Pioneer Mining Company, which had worked the Pantypydew Vein, also undertook a venture known as Holywell. However, no National Grid Reference (NGR) for this venture is provided by Burt (1992).
