The collapsed stone lined adit of the Alltwen Level driven to cut the Alltwen Lode lies just across the Llyn Sarnau causeway. Quite a bit of water seeps out during wet weather.
The large, and cleared dressing floors are fenced off, and there is a feint mark of a buddle pit.
Lodes passing through the sett are:
- Alltwen N-S (known as Bryn Eisteddfod elsewhere)
- Old Alltwen SW-NE
- Bryn Fawnog NW-SE (known as Tal y Llyn elsewhere)
- North Ffridd NW-SE (known as Gorlan elsewhere)
Cutting the Alltwen lode, aka southern part of the Bryn Eisteddfod lode dominated development at Alltwen.
