A cluster of small copper mines situated on the eastern side of the Portreath stream valley, located just north of the North Country hamlet. These mines worked on four lodes that trended in the east-northeast direction. On the western side of the valley, the same lodes were worked by Great North Wheal Tolgus. Between 1827 and 1836, and again from 1845 to 1872, these mines collectively produced 7,670 tons of copper ore with an average grade of 6%, along with 184 tons of black tin.
