The Coed Du cross-course runs north-south through the Carboniferous Limestone beneath Coed Du Wood. To the north of Cefn Farm, within an area of rough pasture, a large shaft and whim circle remain at SJ 1942 6607, along with an Engine Shaft at SJ 1942 6606. A semi-circular wall from an earlier shaft lies just to the north of these features.

Further west, mining activity on this vein has been largely lost to quarrying.

A stone-built engine house stands at SJ 1920 6605, with its bob-pit and adjacent boiler house still partially intact. Some mounting bolts remain in place, and the cylinder base suggests the use of a 36“ engine. The boiler house is positioned to the west of the engine house, while the winding wheelpit lies to the north of this arrangement and south of the Engine Shaft.

The whim circle remains visible at SJ 1942 6605. The site is located uphill from the former River Alyn smelt mill.
