Pantyffrith lies to the north-west of the Moel-y-Gaer Hillfort. Numerous shafts and spoil mounds are scattered across the common land, particularly around Hill Cottage (SJ 2050 6935) and Mount Villa’s (SJ 2020 6975).
Several pools are visible in the area, including a reservoir at SJ 2040 6955. Processing activities continued into the 20th century, with later operations taking place at the Pen-y-bryn site.
Pantyffrith represents the early workings on the Pantygof Vein, which was later incorporated into the Halkyn District United Mines Ltd.
