c1870 | Whilst working Cwmfron, Taylor, KItto and Ross investigate area around Capel Banhadlog where scratchings on the surface indicate some prior working. Ross obtains take note for sett which he sells to newly formed East-Mid Wales Mining Company making £5,500 profit for himself. |
1868 | A group of investors visits the site - being made up largely of Indian Army Officers and the Clergy. With a dozen men working, Ross in overall charge, John Kitto as local manager and Sampson Kitto as resident agent. |
1869 | At AGM, Taylor reports the construction of a reservoir, 300 fm long leat and 30’ water wheel built by Llanidloes engineer William Thomas. |
1870 | Scarcity of water meant installation of steam engine, but with little ore, mine closes. |
1873 | Revived by Kitto together with Cwmfron as Cwmvron and East Cwmvron. Engine shaft down to 7fm under the 36fm level, but both mines close. |
Total production: 72 tons lead ore, 105 tons blende.
