This older mine in the Nenthead area was later operated from the southern branch of the Bloomsberry Horse Level, known as Brownley Hill Mine. Today, at least two level portals are still visible: one next to the road where it bends in Gudhamgill, and another higher up in the gill. The small dumps remaining are now covered in grass. The deposits mined were a branching of the Gudhamgill-Greengill-Bentyfield vein, with flats in the Great Limestone associated with the veins themselves. Sphalerite was the predominant sulfide present in these workings.
